Biography:
His debut in the first series of the Italian championship was with Fiorentina against Roma in 1959. Apart from Fiorentina he also played with Spezia, Cagliari, Milan and Elpidiense. Albertosi was the best Italian goalkeeper of the sixties since he played with a very unique, acrobatic and spectacular style. He had an amazingly fast reaction time and incredible physical strength. He didn’t succeed outside Italy although he won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1961. He was suspended for four years while playing with Milan due to the “Totonero” scandal. He returned to play in the fourth league since he was already 43 years old by then. He continued playing friendly matches for benefits.
