Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, formerly known as Lewis Alcindor, was first formally introduced to basketball at Power Memorial High School in New York City. He left the courts being the NBA's all-time leader in nine statistical categories. At college level he played for the UCLA Bruins where he was named NCAA Most Outstanding Player three times, College player of the Year from 1967 to 1969 and still holds the record of 2,325 points. He then moved to the Milwaukee Bucks where he was the NBA Rookie of the year and NBA’s MVP in 1971, 1972 and 1974. He then started playing for the Los Angeles Lakers with which, he won five NBA championships and three MVP awards. Abdul-Jabbar established himself as basketball's most talented and recognizable player. |
